prolongedeyecontact:

IDAHO ANTI-ABORTION BILL COULD SEND WOMEN SEEKING ABORTIONS TO CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS | Like lawmakers across the U.S., Idaho legislators are considering a bill requiring women to receive an ultrasound before having an abortion, which could add up to $200 to the cost of the procedure for women. But one requirement in the legislation is for the state to post a list of clinics that provide free ultrasounds. It’s expected that most of the organizations listed will be crisis pregnancy centers, known for deceptive tactics to try to stop women from having abortions. But the bill’s sponsor, state Sen. Chuck Winder (R), has no issue with codifying the deceitful tactics because the point of the ultrasound bill is “to convince a woman not to go through with abortions.”

*pregnant people, not just cis women.

RAGE. Oh god. Fucking rage.

12th and Delaware Jesus Camp Crisis Pregnancy Centers CPCs abortion pro-choice
Jesus Camp fucking creeped me out like...holy shit. Is 12th and Delaware just as bad/worse? (Would like to know if my brain will explode again like it did during Jesus Camp, haha.)

Jesus Camp made me cry at some points. Making children speak in tongues? That’s fucking scary, man.

12th and Delaware is less creepy, I guess, but it does go into all those lies they tell you at Crisis Pregnancy Centers. There’s also a part where they talk to and record bits with the actual doctor at the real clinic across the street. There are parts where the CPC workers confess to lying but think it’s for the greater good somehow.

For the anon that asked about crisis pregnancy centres - google 'the stranger six pregnancy tests' (stupid Tumblr won't let me link). It's my favourite article/investigation into CPCs.

Ooh, never heard of that one. Thanks.

How Christian pregnancy centers lie to women.

nephirnuit:

One of the scarier things I have ever read.

The thing about this is just how easily these people lie to scared women on a daily basis. What part of the Christian religion specifically tells you to lie to people? I really want to know.

[Image: Black text on a white background, “The answer to a crisis pregnancy is to eliminate the crisis, not the child. - Jeannie W. French; Founder, National Women’s Coalition for Life”.]
Who, realistically, is going to eliminate the crisis? Crisis Pregnancy Centers, which lie to and emotionally terrorize the poor people who accidentally end up there? I swear, the best anti-choice arguments are a combination between outright lies and wishful thinking, such as this.
Also, think outside the box. There are some people who never want kids, ever. The thought of just being pregnant disgusts a lot of people. So even if you eliminated the financial and personal issues of every uterus-bearer in the world, what about those of us who never want children? You can’t possibly change that, at least not humanely.

dshezno:

On the highway today, I saw a billboard for a crisis pregnancy center whose logo was intentionally similar to Planned Parenthood’s. It didn’t surprise me because I already know that CPC’s are in the business of shameless and unabashed lying.

I would say that even for CPCs, this is low, but it’s really not past them to lie and deceive.
