tw: rape tw: racism idiocy pro-choice abortion propaganda Anonymous answered

Anonymous

I'm disappointed because I thought this was a pro-life blog. Are not all members of the human species considered "human persons"? What is a living human being that is not also a human person considered to be? Are blacks non-persons? Are Jews non-persons?

What? How could you possibly think we’d use the word “propaganda” in a positive context? This blog hasn’t been active for a while, but the entire purpose of it is to call out PROPAGANDA—that is, falsehoods and fallacies—from the anti-choice side of the fence. Hardly anyone in history has actually assumed positivity from the word “propaganda.” I mean, what were you really expecting?

Second off, no. Nothing is comparable to abortion. Racism is not. Anti-semitism is not. And when we’re talking about genocide, it generally involves sentient beings who are physiologically autonomous and fetuses belonging to parents who wanted to birth the child. Now, I’m Jewish here, so you really need to shut the fuck up about anti-semitism. To quote Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, “Those who compare abortion to the Holocaust do not know what the Holocaust was.”

Thirdly, it doesn’t matter whether the fetus is a person or not. It’s a largely philosophical argument that has no relevance here. You know who’s definitely a person? THE ONE WHO’S PREGNANT, WHOM YOU NEVER SEEM TO CONSIDER. No one and nothing has the right to use a person’s body without their consent—not a man, not a woman, not an unborn fetus or embryo. And don’t you dare start lecturing me about consent; I’m a sexual assault survivor, so I know that well enough already, thank you very much.

dandy-tan BTK abortion pro-choice anti-choice propaganda bullshit emotional terrorism
In case anyone else is interested in more pro-life irrationality: There's a documentary floating around called "I Survived BTK," about the lives of the kids whose families were murdered by this serial killer and when they were showing his trial, some pro-life group came to protest about how they wanted the same trial for Dr. Tiller, even making comparisons of the two and how they were "unrepentant murderers", even demanding that Tiller be excommunicated from the church. -continued next ask-

because he was against God, or some nonsense. What really bothered me is the fact that they were comparing this doctor who preformed live-saving medical procedures to some guy who literally orphaned these teens and fucked their lives up forever FOREVER, people who had hopes and dreams and thoughts and feelings and loved ones. That part didn’t last very long—a few minutes—but it made me go “holy shit is the kinds of emotional terrorism that gets real living people murdered.” Unbelievable.

They actually had the gall to compare Dr. Tiller to BTK? You’ve got to be shitting me. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised after 180, but that’s just ludicrous. So, “I Survived BTK”—if I’m feeling particularly masochistic, I may have to liveblog that sometime.

frostrune abortion planned parenthood crisis pregnancy centers cpcs women's health reproductive health propaganda anti-choice
re: anti-choice prop, when i volunteered at planned parenthood, someone/some people once left little brochures condemning plan b and lying about fetal development with inaccurate pictures. another time, some group put (glued?) teddy bears with "i wanted to be (x profession)" all over the building, creating a big mess that the manager and nurses had to clean up. there was also a faint ghosting of where i assume someone spray painted "GOD SEES" on the front of the clinic. right before i (cont)

stopped volunteering for unrelated reasons, an anti-choice group opened a cpc literally right behind the clinic using its subtitle (“women’s clinic” or something) with the clear intention of luring abortion patients there and away from the real clinic.

Can you show me some examples of anti-choice bullshit/propaganda? I really can't think of anything.

You can look through a few pages of this blog, but here are a few examples of common anti-choice lies off the top of my head:

  • most women* regret their abortions
  • abortion causes breast cancer (the National Cancer Institute disagrees)
  • "Post-Abortion Syndrome"
  • Planned Parenthood targets African Americans as part of a genocide (BIG TIME BULLSHIT, since primarily white communities have six times as many abortion clinics as primarily black ones)
  • Planned Parenthood “pushes abortion” for profit, when in actuality they are a non-profit organization
  • Abortion increases risk of infertility

Not to mention all the religious shit they tend to throw around. Bible verses are simply not relevant to this discussion because not everyone follows your god, let alone follows them the same way that you do. What’s even worse is when they use their god to justify bullying, harassment, stalking, and yes, even the murder of doctors.

abortion propaganda anti-choice pro-life submission

…. “Forget space exploration, WOMEN CAN GIVE BIRTH!!!” …. ? As if being interested in either of them is mutually exclusive? What?
Also, this family member of mine has never been to Ireland, has no friends or family in Ireland and really has no business to advocate the denial of basic healthcare rights to a group of people that she has no involvement with.
Asjdkhfjsdhkfjksdhfjksdhf. WHAT. Thought you might be interested in this baffling piece of propaganda. :|

LOLOLOLOL. Oh god. As usual, anti-choicers throw science aside for their misogyny.

abortion pro-choice anti-choice propaganda fetal development
You know how anti-choicers like to have fetuses writing long emotional letters when they can't write at all? What are some other ways (that stand out to you) that they make use of that type of propaganda: where the fetus in question has skills or habits or traits it can't possibly have yet?

Just about all their fetus-centered propaganda depends on a fundamental misunderstanding of how fetal development even works. Simple Googling can usually prove wrong an anti-choicer’s claim that “This is what a fetus looks like at x weeks!” When it’s not even remotely close. There was one instance where a priest took an actual stillborn and said it was an aborted fetus. That link has some other great examples of this, too. Anti-choicers outright lie about fetuses’ capabilities and whatnot, not that it makes a difference in whether it gets to use someone’s uterus against their will or not.

submission from lafillemange:

[Image:  a photo of an infant wearing a shirt that says, “Now that I’m safe I’m PRO-CHOICE”. The photo has a black frame around it, and on the bottom of the frame reads, “BEING A LIBERAL IS SIMPLE. Once you can kill babies, the rest is a cinch.” It is credited to www.politifake.org. End description]

I saw this today and I just felt sickened. I know that the anti-choicers need lies and emotional manipulations since that’s really all they have, but it’s just so ignorant and sickening.

sanityscraps: BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. “Killing babies.” Good one, antis.

Oh wait, you’re serious.

Worth bringing back: Accurate Depictions of Aborted Fetuses [TW: gory fetus photos]

Misrepresentation
A considerable number of anti-abortion visuals feature an almost fully developed fetus. Abortions preformed at this stage via hysterotomy or D&X abortions are rare. Only about 1.5% of abortions are performed at 21-weeks or older, according to according to a 2000 study conducted by the Nation Center for Chronic Disease (CDC). A July 1992 LIFE magazine article, The Great Divide, reported that Reverend Robert Schenk, member of anti-choice coalition Operation rescue, attended a demonstration outside an abortion clinic in Buffalo, NY, with “Baby Tia”, a 7-inch, gray-tinted and formaldehyde-soaked dead fetus. In the escalating madness of the crowd, the fetus was dropped onto the sneaker-trodden street. Authorities arrested Schenk and confiscated the fetus, which was taken to a coroner, only to be identified as an approximately 20-week-old stillborn. The article reads, “Many pro-choice supporters in Buffalo are angry about the distance between their reality-what they see in the clinics-and the images the anti-abortionists present as fact. ‘What they are showing to the public is a lie,’ says Joni Ladowski, a nurse at a nearby clinic, as she unfolds a length of gauze. In the center lies what appears to be a clot the size of a peanut. It is a fetus, nine weeks old. ‘This is an abortion,’ she says.”

abortion pro-choice anti-choice pro-life science propaganda medicine

Seriously, anti-choicers, did you guys smoke weed all through science class?

Your common misconceptions never cease to flabbergast me.

  • Birth control does not induce abortion because it prevents pregnancy to begin with (link is a great video of Rachel Maddow hilariously explaining the science to Mitt Romney). Meaning that when birth control is in use, there should be nothing there to abort.
  • Abortion does not cause breast cancer, but childbirth can transiently increase your risk for it.
  • Abortion is not a mental health risk, but childbirth is.
  • Pregnancy is NOT a simple nine months of your life. Forced pregnancy and childbirth are torture. The medical complications associated with pregnancy can form a Shakespearean litany, and no one should have to go through that if they do not want to.
  • Learn how fetal development actually works. Fetuses cannot think, talk, hear, or write. They cannot feel pain until 35 weeks, and most abortions happen before 12. I’ve seen propaganda pieces depicting a 4 week embryo as an inch long, when in reality, it’s about the size of a poppy seed. That shit is nothing short of factual inaccuracy and emotional manipulation.
